At the start of February 2016, I left the company I had been with for ten years to travel and volunteer. When my mother passed away seven years ago, I realized that there was more to life than work. At the end of my life, I wanted to look back and see that I had taken risks, helped others, and lived life to its fullest. It took a couple (okay, perhaps more than a couple) years for my risk- averse "J" self to take the leap from a great company-- where I was very comfortable-- into an unknown future.

In this next chapter, I aim to find work that's more meaningful while experiencing life to its fullest. I'm not sure what this will look like, and I'll probably have to explore a variety of opportunities before I can determine what that will be, but I'm excited to see where I'll land. In the end, I may return to a corporate environment, but at least that will be a choice I'll make in the end. I realize that I'm very fortunate to be able to do this and not everyone can, so I won't make light of this chance to "do something."

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and for bearing with me as I'm getting used to blogging and working with this website platform.
